The fist game in the series was released in 2001 exclusively for the PlayStation 2. The series has a total of six major video games, one of which is a reboot known as ''DmC Devil May Cry''. The franchise has spawned an animated series, stage plays and radio dramas.
 
 
The latest video game in the series was ''Devil May Cry 5'' which was released in 2019. This title is a direct sequel to ''Devil May Cry 4'', which was released in 2008.
 
 
There is currently an ongoing manga titled ''Devil May Cry 5 – Visions of V –'' which acts as a prequel to ''Devil May Cry 5''. There is also [[w:c:devilmaycry:Devil May Cry (upcoming animated series)|an upcoming animated]] series that was confirmed to be in the works by the team behind the Castlevania Netflix series.
